Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin and Hon Andrew Asiamah Amoako are back as Speakers of Parliament, ready to lead with unwavering conviction and inspire meaningful change.

Bagbin has been elected Speaker of the 9th Parliament, while Hon Asiamah is the Second Deputy Speaker of the 9th Parliament. The two held the same positions in the 8th Parliament.

Their election took place at the First Sitting of the 9th Parliament in the early hours of Tuesday, January 7, 2024, under the chairmanship of the Acting Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror.
Bagbin was nominated by Cassiel Ato Forson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and seconded by Alexander Afenyo-Markin of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) whilst Asiamah was nominated by Frank Annoh-Dompreh of the NPP.
Bernard Ahiafor is the First Deputy Speaker.
The 9th Parliament is scheduled to convene today at 10:00 am at Independence Square for the inauguration of President John Mahama and Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
