Conviction by the Holy Spirit
It is not a matter of feeling good but a matter of realizing that you are a sinner living wrongly before the Lord. And that you need to change your ways and turn to God for salvation.
God does not expect man upon conviction by the Holy Spirit to feel good but to come to the realization that he needs a savior. For his life is not what it must be. Man has strayed from the good path and is on the path to destruction.
This is the essence of conviction; not that one must feel good. When the Holy Spirit convicts you, you realise your hopelessness in your present state and the need for God for your salvation. Your feeling does not matter in conviction; what matters is your need for a savior to save you from your utter hopelessness into a life of salvation.
God is the Creator and man needs Him to be saved. A depraved man cannot by sheer sense of feeling good challenge the way set by God to be saved.
Conviction of sin is not a matter of feeling good but being shown you’re your sinful nature and being responsible to your state by repenting and embracing the gift of God – salvation, by faith.
