“This is to thank the Almighty Allah for His grace.”
After his defeat in the 2024 Presidential Election, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was in Mecca to perform the Islamic Umrah pilgrimage.
Despite facing defeat, Dr. Bawumia steadfastly recognized the immense goodness and mercy of God in his life. This unwavering acknowledgement compelled him to draw closer to God through meaningful reflection and heartfelt thanksgiving.
Sharing his thoughts on social media, Dr Bawumia said: “Together with Hajia Samira Bawumia and some friends, I arrived in Mecca yesterday to perform Umrah (Islamic Pilgrimage to Mecca). This is to thank the Almighty Allah for His grace. We also prayed for guidance and protection for us and for our nation, Ghana.”
With the NPP Flagbearer in Mecca was the former Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif.
Umrah, known as the “minor pilgrimage,” is a non-compulsory Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca that can be performed year-round. It involves specific rituals completed in a few hours and is a sacred journey millions of Muslims undertake to strengthen their connection with Allah (SWT).
