“It is sad how the President could keep virtually all his appointees in the same portfolio for eight years (with micro reshuffle) begs belief.”
The Alliance for Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not enthused about how the once-celebrated NPP, which enjoyed immense goodwill among Ghanaians, could suddenly face a significant defeat in the presidential election and secure only a few minority seats in parliament.
The Alliance views Ghanaians’ December 7 verdict as rejecting President Akufo-Addo’s intransigence rather than voting against the NPP as a party.
“Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is just a victim of circumstance, who, unfortunately, became the unintended casualty of the bottled anger of the people,” the AFFA said in a release dated December 16, 2024.
According to the AFFA, “It is sad how the President could keep virtually all his appointees in the same portfolio for eight years (with micro reshuffle) begs belief.”
The Alliance is of the belief that the NPP’s “Defeat is a wake-up call for all members. It is time to restructure our party at the polling stations, constituency, regional, and national levels. Let us regroup, re-strategize, and come back stronger in 2028.”
