The St. John’s 2025 Canada Games have officially roared to life, uniting over 5,000 young athletes, coaches, and officials from all 13 provinces and territories in the nation’s premier multi-sport event.
Over the next two weeks, competitors will test their mettle in 17 sports, proudly flying their provincial and territorial colours in a celebration of skill, determination, and national pride.
Since debuting in Québec City in 1967, the Canada Games have served as a launchpad for the country’s top athletic talent, a catalyst for community development, and a driver of sports infrastructure from coast to coast.
Secretary of State Adam van Koeverden hailed the event as proof that sport can unite the nation and foster healthier, more inclusive communities.
Backed by strong federal support, the 2025 Games will not only spotlight Canada’s diverse culture and rising stars but also honour the dedication of the Host Society, Newfoundland and Labrador, the City of St. John’s, surrounding municipalities, the Canada Games Council, and an army of volunteers.
As the competition unfolds until August 24, the stage is set for a fortnight of fierce competition, memorable moments, and the making of future Canadian sports legends.
