Senegal has officially become the 56th signatory of the Artemis Accords, affirming its commitment to the peaceful and sustainable exploration of outer space. The agreement was signed by Maram Kaïré, Director General of the Senegalese Space Studies Agency, in the presence of U.S. and NASA officials.
This milestone strengthens the longstanding U.S.-Senegal partnership, established in 1960, and paves the way for expanded cooperation in space science, innovation, and economic development.
Launched in 2020 by the United States and seven partner nations, the Artemis Accords promote transparency, responsible behaviour, and international collaboration in civil space activities. Senegal now joins a growing coalition of 56 countries aligned with these principles, grounded in the 1967 Outer Space Treaty.
