The Association assures all members of the Election Committee’s commitment to a fair and credible electoral process.
The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Elections Committee has announced a review of the current Elections Calendar for both national and regional elections, originally set for June 30, 2025.
According to a release from the Association, the review is prompted by multiple petitions contesting the eligibility of certain candidates, which are currently under investigation.
Furthermore, the last-minute withdrawal of a Vice-Chairman aspirant in the Volta Region has necessitated the reopening of nominations for that position from June 9, 2025, for seven days.
“Consequently, essential electoral procedures, including the balloting process, will be revised to maintain fairness, transparency, and adherence to the Association’s electoral regulations,” the GJA states.
The release makes it clear that a revised Elections Calendar will be issued soon and assures all members of the Election Committee’s commitment to a fair and credible electoral process.

PRESS RELEASE
GJA 2025 Elections Calendar Under Review Due to Petitions and Withdrawal of Candidature
The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Elections Committee wishes to inform all stakeholders and members of the Association that the current Elections Calendar for the upcoming national and regional elections—initially scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025—is under review.
According to the original calendar, the outcome of the vetting process was expected to be published on Friday. However, the Committee has received a number of petitions challenging the eligibility of some candidates, which it is carefully reviewing and investigating.
Additionally, an aspirant for the position of Vice-Chairman in the Volta Region has withdrawn at the last minute, necessitating the re-opening of nominations for that particular position on Monday, June 9, 2025, for seven calendar days.
In light of these developments, critical electoral activities such as balloting for positions and other scheduled steps in the election process must be revised to ensure fairness, transparency, and compliance with the Association’s electoral guidelines.
The revised Elections Calendar will be published shortly, and we assure all members that the Committee is working diligently to address all issues in a fair and timely manner.
We thank all members for their patience and continued support as we work to uphold the integrity of the GJA electoral process.
