The government of Ghana seems to be playing a see-saw game with the issue of road and bridge tolls.
The country has in the time past put tolls on selected roads and bridges in the country. The government not satisfied with the amount collected in relation to the inconveniences suffered by the travelling public put the collection on hold.
On February 5, 2025, however, a release from the Ministry of Roads and Highways, announced the re-introduction of road and bridge tolls.
The Ministry “assured the public of its commitment to introducing a modernized system that addresses the current tolling and road maintenance funding challenges of the country.”
