“We are disappointed that the NDC leadership has taken no action to address this serious issue.”
The Japekrom Traditional Council has rejected a request for engagement by the Jaman South National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The reason per the Council – one Apraku Ansomana (Boano Taller), the assemblyman for Baano, had made disrespectful remarks at the Omanhene in an audio recording.
In a letter addressed to the NDC Chairman of the Jaman South Municipality, the Council said, “We are disappointed that there has been no action taken by the NDC leadership to address this serious issue.”
“In the light of these developments we believe it would be inappropriate for representatives of the NDC to meet with Nananom or to pay a courtesy call until this issue is adequately resolved,” the Council said.
The Japekrom Traditional Council made it clear that once “we see a genuine commitment to honouring our traditions, we would welcome the opportunity for future discussions.”
