
President Akufo-Addo asked the personnel and residents of the areas to make sure that the facilities are properly managed and maintained.
On Monday, November 25, 2024. President Akufo-Addo commissioned four out of five newly constructed 40-bed district hospitals in the Ashanti Region.
The hospitals are located in Drobonso (Sekyere Afram Plains District), Sabronum (Ahafo Ano South East District), Twedie (Atwima Kwanwoma District), and Suame (Suame Municipal area). The fifth hospital, in Manso Nkwanta (Amansie West District), is complete but awaits commissioning.
In order to fulfill the government’s pledge to improve the health of all citizens of the nation by enhancing the infrastructure for health care, President Akufo-Addo asked the personnel and residents of the areas to make sure that the facilities are properly managed and maintained.
The project, initiated in 2020, involved constructing 12 hospitals across Ashanti, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions and a polyclinic in Mim, Brong Ahafo Region, by VAMED Engineering GmbH of Austria. A €71.5 million loan from Erste Group Bank AG and Česká Spořitelna a.s financed the initiative, which includes staff accommodations.
Each hospital features modern facilities, including outpatient and public health departments, consulting rooms, a surgical suite, wards for various patients, labour and delivery stations, and recovery rooms. President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of proper management and maintenance of the facilities to improve healthcare infrastructure and outcomes nationwide.
