The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, has said that the Ashanti Region is the largest beneficiary of road projects under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.
According to the Ashanti Minister over the past eight years, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has awarded 374 road contracts in the Region, resulting in the completion of 2,145 kilometres of roads.
Osei Mensah highlighted that the NPP government has greatly improved living conditions in the Ashanti Region through extensive road infrastructure development. Key highways, including the Sofoline-Abuakwa, Kumasi-Obuasi, Kumasi-Bosomtwe, and Kumasi-Accra roads, have been upgraded to stimulate economic activities in the area.
Additionally, the Minister noted that many communities and streets across the Region have benefited from asphalt overlays, further enhancing residents’ quality of life. He emphasized that the NPP’s efforts have transformed the Ashanti Region from having some of the poorest road infrastructure in Ghana to now boasting one of the best.
Osei Mensah affirmed the government’s commitment to ongoing road projects to meet the needs of Ashanti Region residents. This focus on infrastructure is part of the NPP’s broader efforts to enhance quality of life, which also include achievements in job creation, industrialization, education, and healthcare. With continued investment, residents can anticipate further improvements in the coming years.
