Established on 31 October 2025, the Federation Afro Diaspora Network (FADN) has emerged as an international platform dedicated to connecting, strengthening, and representing organisations and initiatives within the Afro-diaspora. Founded on the principle that lasting societal progress requires unity and a clearly articulated collective voice, the federation seeks to consolidate efforts across regions and sectors.
FADN operates as a bridge between Afro-diaspora organisations, civil society, governments, and international stakeholders. By fostering structured cooperation and facilitating the exchange of knowledge, it aims to enhance collective impact in areas such as social justice, cultural recognition, education, heritage, and civic participation. Its overarching objective is to secure a strong, visible, and sustainable position for Afro-diaspora communities at local, national, and international levels.
As a federation, FADN’s membership is composed exclusively of organisations, ensuring broad, representative participation through affiliated networks rather than individual enrollment. This structure enables the Federation to speak on behalf of a diverse yet united global Afro community, encompassing cultural institutions, professional networks, and community-based organisations.
The Federation’s mandate includes promoting equal rights, self-determination, and economic development, while serving as a recognised dialogue partner in engagements with national governments, multilateral institutions, civil society actors, and the private sector. It places particular emphasis on strengthening solidarity and cooperation between Afro organisations in the Global South and the diaspora, and on supporting initiatives related to emancipation, education, health, entrepreneurship, and political participation. Central to its mission is the acknowledgment of the enduring impacts of enslavement and colonial histories, alongside efforts to advance recognition, repair, and healing.
Operating strictly in the public interest, FADN is a non-profit organisation. Its activities range from convening conferences and international partnerships to capacity building, policy advocacy, and the development of collaborative platforms that link diaspora communities with counterparts worldwide. Governed transparently, the federation finances its work through membership contributions, public grants, donations, and sponsorships, and publishes annual reports and financial statements in line with recognised public benefit standards.
From a Dutch and international perspective, FADN positions itself as a constructive and forward-looking partner in the global conversation on inclusion, equity, and representation. Its vision is of a world in which people of African descent are not only heard but actively participate in shaping the decisions that affect their futures, grounded in dignity, justice, and collective strength.
