The forecourt of the State House was draped in grief and solemn remembrance as Ghanaians gathered for “An Evening of Reflections and Memorial” to honour eight compatriots who lost their lives in a recent helicopter crash while serving the nation.
Among the mourners was General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK), whose quiet, reflective presence captured the emotional weight of the evening.
Standing among leaders from across the political spectrum, including President John Dramani Mahama, Vice-President, Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Former Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Minority Leader Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, JFK listened closely as family members and ministry representatives shared heartfelt tributes.
Those close to him noted his visible grief as stories of courage, dedication, and sacrifice echoed across the courtyard. Later, speaking with measured emotion, JFK called the tragedy “a painful reminder” of the risks borne by those in public service.
He urged the nation to keep the bereaved families in their prayers and to honour the memory of the fallen by embracing unity and patriotism.
The evening’s tributes painted a portrait of eight lives defined by duty, underscoring that in moments of loss, Ghana’s strength lies in shared mourning and the bonds of national solidarity.
