April 10, 2025, marks a sombre day in the history of the Asokore Mampong community in Kumasi. The community will hold a one-week funeral ceremony to honour Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, the Asokore Mamponghene, and Nana Saman Diawuo, the Queen Mother of Asokore Mampong.
At a press conference on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Nana Boakye Yam Ababio, Nkwantakesehene, spoke on behalf of the Nifa Division of the Kumasi Traditional Council to announce the sad news.
He stated, “We have agreed to hold the One Week celebration for both leaders on April 10, 2025. We invite everyone to join us in honouring our traditional leaders”
The Asokore Mamponghene, whose dedicated service to Asanteman extended his influence beyond his jurisdiction, passed away in South Africa on Thursday, February 20, 2025, while receiving medical treatment.
Nana Debrah, who holds a first degree in architecture from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, passed away a few days after Nana Diawuo had gone to the village.
