The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Stephen Frimpong Manso as the new head coach of the Black Starlets effective January 9, 2025.
Manso, the current head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, replaces Laryea Kingston, who resigned in May 2024 after the team’s loss to Burkina Faso in the WAFU Zone B Competition. Manso will be assisted by Nana Kweku Agyemang and Jacob Nettey, who have been retained as assistant coaches.
The GFA believes Manso’s experience and expertise will be crucial as the Black Starlets prepare for upcoming international competitions.
Frimpong Manso is an experienced coach who started his career as a defender. He represented Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, from 1986 to 1995.
During his playing career, he played for clubs such as Asante Kotoko and Al Shabab in Kuwait.
Transitioning into coaching, Manso has led teams like Stade d’Abidjan, Asante Kotoko, Karela United, B.A. United, Kessben FC (now Medeama SC), and Nkoranza Warriors. He has also coached Ghana’s National U17 team and the Black Meteors.
