As we celebrate Father’s Day today, let us pause to honour not only fathers in the biological sense, but all men whose lives have become pillars upon which others lean.
Today, we salute the father who rises before dawn to provide for his family; the grandfather whose wisdom steadies the generations; the uncle who steps into the breach when a child needs guidance; the teacher who shapes minds; the mentor who kindles hope; the soldier who stands watch while others sleep; the pastor, priest, reverend minister, and man of faith who shepherd souls; the bachelor who serves his community selflessly; and every man whose influence has nurtured, protected, inspired, and uplifted others.
Fatherhood is more than biology. It is stewardship. It is sacrifice. It is responsibility. It is the quiet strength that bears burdens without applause and offers comfort without seeking reward.
Yet, while we celebrate, let us also reflect.
The world today cries out for men of character more than men of power; men of integrity more than men of influence; men who build bridges rather than walls; men who listen before they speak and serve before they command.
Let no man among us rest upon his past achievements. The medals earned, the offices held, the victories won, and the years served are worthy of honour, but our greatest legacy will not be found in titles or possessions. It will be found in the lives we have touched, the values we have transmitted, the examples we have set, and the love we have given.
To fathers, continue to guide.
To husbands, continue to cherish.
To sons, continue to honour.
To grandfathers, continue to inspire.
To mentors, continue to invest.
To men of faith, continue to illuminate.
To every man, continue to grow.
And to our families—wives, mothers, daughters, sons, grandchildren, relatives, friends, and loved ones—thank you for your support, encouragement, patience, and love. Strong men do not stand alone; they are strengthened by the families and communities that walk beside them.
May we strive to leave behind not merely inheritance, but heritage; not merely wealth, but wisdom; not merely memories, but noble examples.
PRAYER
Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of life and for the men You have placed among us to lead, protect, serve, teach, and nurture.
Grant us wisdom in our decisions, courage in our trials, humility in our successes, and compassion in our dealings with others. Strengthen every father, comfort every grieving family, encourage every struggling man, and bless all who labour for the welfare of others.
Help us to be instruments of peace, examples of integrity, defenders of truth, and bearers of hope. May our homes be filled with love, our communities with harmony, and our nation with justice and righteousness.
Through Your grace, may we finish our earthly race with honour and leave a legacy worthy of those who follow after us.
Amen.
TOAST
To all men of goodwill;
To fathers and father figures;
To families united in love;
To wisdom, service, honour, and sacrifice;
To the generations that have gone before us and those yet to come;
May we live nobly, serve faithfully, and be remembered kindly.
Cheers !
BENEDICTION
May the Lord bless us and keep us.
May the Lord make His face shine upon us and be gracious unto us.
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us and give us peace.
May He strengthen our hands for every good work, guide our feet in the paths of righteousness, and unite our families in love and understanding.
And may the blessing of Almighty God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—rest upon us, remain with us, and accompany us now and always.
Amen
