St. George’s: Grenada’s Ministry of Finance has set the stage for its 2026 National Budget with a high-level retreat at the Grenada Trade Centre on August 6, drawing senior government officials, technocrats, and key stakeholders into strategic dialogue on the nation’s fiscal future.
Held under the theme “Strategic Partnership and Resilient Budgeting for Inclusive Development,” the retreat tackled pressing economic priorities: driving human and social development, boosting competitiveness, advancing climate-resilient infrastructure, and strengthening environmental sustainability.
Permanent Secretary Mike Sylvester underscored the gathering’s importance, calling it “a cornerstone of our planning process” that ensures every dollar spent aligns with long-term development goals.
The meeting reviewed past-year achievements and challenges while exploring forward-looking strategies in sustainable development, digital transformation, infrastructure, and social protection. Crucially, it fostered cross-ministerial collaboration to ensure a unified, sector-wide approach to budgeting.
Next, the Ministry will launch nationwide budget consultations in late August, inviting citizens to shape fiscal priorities and project selections for the 2026–2027 cycle — a move seen as reinforcing the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and economic resilience amid global uncertainties.
