Police seized two firearms and several rounds of ammunition during exercise conducted in the Eastern and Western divisions on Sunday.
Police report between 3.30 p.m. and 6 p.m. officers from theSouther Division Task Force conducted an intelligence-led operation in the Eastern Division. At approximately 4.40 p,m,, the team proceeded to Eastern Main Road, Valencia, where they searched a bushy area near an abandoned structure. During the search, the team found and seized a plastic bag containing a Taurus firearm fitted with a magazine holding six rounds of .45 ammunition, along with a further 225 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
This operation was coordinated by Snr Supt Kirk, Supt Singh, Supt Rampath, Asst Supt Phillip, Insp Wilkinson, and Sgt Steele.
Police also reported between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Western Division, officers from the Western Division Task Force received information that led them to a riverbank in the vicinity of Morne Espoire, Paramin Village.
When the officers arrived at the location, they observed three men, one of whom was armed. Police report that upon looking in the direction of the officers, the suspects began running along the riverbank and then into the forested area, managing to escape.
The officers then conducted an extensive search of the area and discovered a shotgun loaded with a cartridge and two additional cartridges. The items were seized.
The exercise was sanctioned by Acting Snr Supt Williams, spearheaded by Assistant Supt Lynch, and coordinated by Insp Grant and Ag Sgt Dominique.
