President Wavel Ramkalawan of Seychelles, along with First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, met with Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House in Accra on Thursday, November 21, 2024. The visit aimed to strengthen the historic bond between the two nations.
The meeting began with a ceremonial military guard of honour, followed by a private discussion between the two leaders. President Ramkalawan expressed his gratitude for Ghana’s warm hospitality and conveyed greetings from the people of Seychelles.

A significant highlight of the visit was the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) on tourism and culture. These agreements, signed by Ambassador Conrad Mederic and Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer, demonstrate the commitment of both nations to enhancing collaboration and cooperation.
The Presidents stressed the value of strengthening alliances and looking into prospects for both parties in a joint press conference.
Later, President Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan were invited to an official luncheon held by President Akufo-Addo and First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo.
The Seychelles team honoured Ghana’s rich heritage during the visit by participating in wreath-laying rituals at the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum.
In a related development, President Ramkalawan and the First Lady have met the Seychellois community in Ghana. Organized by Honorary Consul Kwame Acquah, the gathering allowed the President to express gratitude, share updates on Seychelles, and engage directly with citizens abroad. Representing the community, Mr. John Micock voiced their pride in meeting the President.
The meeting reflects President Ramkalawan’s commitment to connecting with the Seychellois diaspora, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ dedicated diaspora section and the recently launched diaspora policy.
