During an official state banquet on July 2, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama, on behalf of the government and people of Ghana, conferred the State Honour of Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana on the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in recognition of his official two-day visit.
The citation accompanying the award commended Prime Minister Modi for his longstanding public service, marked by integrity, visionary leadership, and commitment to human advancement.
It further highlighted his contributions to national development, international cooperation, and particularly his efforts in fostering strong diplomatic and developmental ties between India and Ghana.
This recognition formed part of a broader five-nation tour and adds to a growing list of international honours, bringing the total number of top civilian awards conferred on him by foreign states to 24, the highest for any Indian leader.
In his acceptance remarks, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the honour to the people of India, particularly its youth, and underscored the strong bilateral relations between India and Ghana, rooted in shared democratic ideals and mutual respect.
