In 1994, the highly cultivated and versatile politician Okyeame Baffour Osei Akoto, who was 90 years old, invited a well-known politician to his birthday party. The occasion was also to celebrate his 59th anniversary of accession to the Butuakwa and Appiah Kyeame Stool.
However, the politician, Chairman of the Council of State, Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia, did not attend the event.
Alhaji Bawumia’s reason: “Much as I would have wished to be with you on this memorable occasion, pressure of work and other domestic problems at home in the north makes this impracticable.”
