The unforeseen circumstances have significantly disrupted the team’s preparations for the crucial qualifiers.
Ghana’s Black Stars face a significant setback ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, as eight key players have been forced to withdraw due to injuries and personal reasons.
The injury crisis has impacted various positions, including defenders, midfielders, and forwards. Some players face lengthy recovery periods, while others are dealing with acute injuries.
Those sidelined include forwards Inaki Williams and Antoine Semenyo, defenders Tariq Lamptey, Jonas Adjetey, Jerome Opoku, and Alexander Djiku, and midfielder Ibrahim Osman. Inaki Williams, Lamptey, and Djiku are dealing with recent injuries, while Semenyo needs to see a specialist for patella tendonitis, and Painstil withdrew for personal reasons.
With limited time before the high-stakes matches in Luanda and Accra, Coach Otoo Addo is under pressure to find replacements and rally a competitive squad to keep Ghana’s AFCON hopes alive.
The Black Stars have called up replacement players, including Terry Yegbe, to address the player shortage. However, these unforeseen circumstances have significantly disrupted the team’s preparations for the crucial qualifiers.
