
Ghanaian teachers are highly sought after in Africa due to the NTC’s robust measures put in their training.
The Registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC), Dr Addae Mensah has criticized the politicization of the Teachers Licensure Examinations.
Speaking at a two-day teachers’ symposium in Kumasi he stressed that undermining the Teacher Licensure Examination on the altar of politics will compromise Ghana’s teaching quality.
The NTC Registrar emphasized that eliminating the Teacher Licensure Examination for political reasons would jeopardize Ghana’s education standards because the exam’s thorough assessment is essential for ensuring high-quality teaching professionals.
He noted that Ghanaian teachers are highly sought after in Africa due to the NTC’s robust measures, including the licensure examinations, put in their training.
Dr AddaeMensah disclosed that due to NTC’s robust measures like the licensure exams, Ghanaian teachers are highly sought after overseas.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s representative at the function, Apagyahene, Nana Owusu Afriyie IV, appealed to policymakers to involve teachers in policy formulation, as teachers have firsthand experience with issues that can transform the country.
On his part, the Deputy Minister of Education, Professor Kingsley Nyarko, among others, called on organised labour to reconsider their planned nationwide strike over galamsey.
Organised labour has set October 10, 2024, to shut down the country in a general strike over galamsey issues.
