The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to hold a National Thanksgiving Service following the successful conclusion of its Presidential Primary held on January 31, 2026. The service is intended to mark what the Party has described as a peaceful and historic internal electoral process, conducted under the theme: “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving” (Psalm 50:14).
The presidential primary, which culminated in the election of H.E. Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2028 general election, has been widely commended by political stakeholders and observers for its credibility, transparency, and orderly conduct. Party leadership has attributed the smooth process to collective discipline, institutional maturity, and divine guidance, describing the outcome as a significant milestone in Ghana’s democratic journey.
In this context, the National Thanksgiving Service will bring together religious leaders, party officials, and supporters to express gratitude and reaffirm commitment to national unity and responsible leadership. The observance, which will include both Islamic and Christian services, underscores the Party’s emphasis on inclusivity, faith, and reflection as it prepares for the next phase of the electoral cycle.
Below is the statement from the NPP announcing the Thanksgiving Service:
