Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and for Home Affairs Sim Ann will travel to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from August 20 to 23, 2025, to participate in the 10th Forum for East Asia–Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM), at the invitation of Mongolia, which currently serves as the FEALAC Regional Coordinator for East Asia.
Singapore is a co-founding member of FEALAC, established in 1999 to promote exchanges and strengthen cooperation between East Asia and Latin America. At the upcoming FMM, Sim Ann will join regional counterparts to review the forum’s progress and discuss new opportunities for expanding inter-regional collaboration in trade, development, and diplomacy.
Beyond the multilateral agenda, Sim Ann will also use the visit to reaffirm bilateral ties with Mongolia, which mark their 55th anniversary this year. She is scheduled to call on First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development Uchral Nyam-Osor, Minister for Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh, and Enkhtuvshin Dashtseren, Member of the State Great Khural and Vice-Chairperson of the Mongolia–Singapore Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Her program will also include a meeting with members of the Singaporean community in Mongolia, underscoring Singapore’s continued commitment to its citizens abroad. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will accompany Sim Ann.
The visit reflects Singapore’s broader diplomatic engagement with both East Asia and Latin America, positioning the Republic as a bridge-builder between the two dynamic regions while deepening longstanding ties with Mongolia.
