WAEC needs to act now to ensure that no student’s future is delayed due to its mistakes.
WAEC, the body responsible for conducting exams for students across West Africa, is failing many students this year. The delay in releasing results for the 2024 BECE has left many students without placements in senior high schools—through no fault of their own.
Some students are stuck because WAEC has not processed or released their core subject results. Meanwhile, others whose elective subject results are available have been placed in schools. This delay is causing unnecessary stress and is putting the future of our youth at risk.
WAEC must take immediate action to resolve this issue by:
- Expediting the release of all pending results for core subjects.
- Ensuring that students with incomplete results are not left out of the placement process.
- Improving its systems to avoid these delays in the future.
Our children’s education should not be held hostage by administrative inefficiency. WAEC needs to act now to ensure that no student’s future is delayed due to its mistakes.
It’s time for WAEC to be accountable and deliver on its responsibility to our youth.
