The two nations are committed to creating a future in which Ghanaian students succeed globally.
On November 13, 2024, a strong delegation of ministers from Ghana engaged in exciting discussions to strengthen Ghana-France partnerships, especially in education.
France’s Minister of Education, Anne Genetet, met with her Ghanaian counterpart, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, for a productive breakfast meeting.
Their conversation focused on expanding French language learning in Ghanaian schools and creating valuable opportunities for Ghanaian students.
“We discussed the potential for teacher exchange programs to bring Ghanaian English teachers to France and French teachers to Ghana, as well as additional support for professional development for Ghanaian French teachers,” Dr Adutwum later told reporters.
He stated, “We also discussed study visits to France for Ghanaian head teachers and support for the new Global Studies Academy, including the establishment of language labs to enhance French language education.”
Furthermore, President Akufo-Addo, alongside UNESCO’s Director-General, paid tribute to Mr. Amadou Mahtar M’Bow, the first African to serve as UNESCO’s Director-General, honouring his significant contributions to advancing global education.
These fruitful discussions pave the way for what promises to be transformative progress for our students, educators, and schools.
Dr. Adutwum is hopeful that the two nations are committed to creating a future in which Ghanaian students succeed globally, equipped with the knowledge and cultural sensitivity to participate actively across boundaries.
