“Our flagbearer talking about chickens, lions, and coups, does nothing at all to endear us to the people of Ghana.”
Three groups in the country have declared their unflinching support for the New Patriotic Party Flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
They are the National Affairs Clergy Council of Ghana (NACCA), the United Front Party (UFP), and the coalition of National Democratic Congress former ward, branch, constituency, regional and national executives, district chief executives, members of parliament, and social media communicators,
According to the NCCA their action stems from Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s visionary leadership and dedication to Ghana’s progress.
“Dr Bawumia’s commitment to inclusive growth, economic development, and social welfare resonates with our values. We pledge our support for his future endeavours, trusting his leadership will continue to uplift Ghana”, the NCCA said
On their part, the flag bearer of the UFP, Nana Agyenim Boateng, aka, GYATABA, national executives, regional executives and supporters in a declaration, abandoned their quest to contest the 2024 elections on their own in favour of Dr Bawumia and the NPP.
Addressing supporters and sympathisers at the Kumasi Center for National Culture, Gyataba said Dr Bawumia is second to none as far as experience to govern the country is concerned.
As far as the Coalition of National Democratic Congress former party members are concerned; in the supreme national interest of Ghana, they have decided to support the NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia to steer the affairs of the Republic of Ghana for the next 4 years.
Below is the statement by the former NDC members
PRESS STATEMENT
COALITION OF NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS FORMER WARD, BRANCH, CONSTITUENCY, REGIONAL AND NATIONAL EXECUTIVES, DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVES AND MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT ,SOCIAL MEDIA COMMUNICATORS, AND SERIAL CALLERS DECLARE SUPPORT FOR BAWUMIA
We the Coalition of National Democratic Congress Former Party Executives, District Chief Executives and Members of Parliament have decided in the Supreme National interest of Ghana, have decided to support the NPP Presidential Candidate Dr Mahamadu Bawumia to steer the affairs of the Republic of Ghana for the next 4 years.
This decision we have arrived at is as a result of careful reflection, discussion, consultation with the Ghanaian public, a significant majority of our members and even some members of our party’s functional executive committee and some close advisers of Former President Mahama who for reasons for their own safety and security shall remain nameless.
We respect and adore Former President Mahama. He has served our party dutifully and has won elections for us in 2012.There is no denying the fact that he lost abysmally in 2016 and though he improved in 2020 he still lost BY 500,000 Votes! It is this number we have to overturn to win the election.
Unfortunately for the great NDC, our party has failed to articulate the ideas and policies that Ghanaians, seeking a change from Akuffo Addo’s stewardship are expecting. Our flagbearer talking about chickens, lions, and coups and this does nothing at all to endear us to the people of Ghana. The 24 hour economy has not been explained to us as members to go round and articulate to Ghanaians. Instead of talking about creating jobs, we are spending time on nightclubs and football formations!
In 2028, we have so much hope for Ghanaians through carefully laid out policies on health jobs and the economy.
We have watched our main opponent Dr Bawumia bring himself to the doorsteps of the people reminding us of our great founder and leader the late Former President Rawlings! Dr Bawumia is telling Ghanaians that he will grant a tax amnesty, implement a flat tax rate as will as preserve the Free Senior High school policy. These are things that affect the ordinary Ghanaian.
We intend to put Ghana first, though we believe the great NDC is the best party of Ghana, the current leadership under our leader Former President John Mahama is not just articulating the ideas and policies Ghanaians want.
We therefore declare that in all the 16 regions of Ghana we will campaign for Dr Bawumia to lead our country but we will still vote for our NDC parliamentary candidates!
